Gradually add cold water while whisking, gradually mixing into dry ingredients until batter is smooth and free from lumps.
Rest the Batter: Allow batter to rest for 10-15 minutes so its ingredients have time to fully hydrate while flavors meld before coating seafood with it.
Dip your chosen seafood (fish fillets, shrimp or other) in batter until fully covered, being careful that no gaps remain between each piece of seafood and batter. Batter: Fry all pieces separately over heat source as necessary until golden-brown in color and doneness is reached.
Heating oil to approximately 350degF (175degC).
Carefully place battered seafood into hot oil until golden-brown and crisp – typically this takes several minutes depending on its thickness.
Drain and Serve: Once the seafood has reached a golden-brown hue, use a slotted spoon to remove it from the oil and set on a plate lined with paper towels so any extra oil drains off before plating up for service. Anschliessend serve immediately!
