Ingredients
For the Brownies
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans work well)
For Topping
- 1/2 cup pomegranate arils (seeds)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on two sides for easy removal.
- Melt the butter until it’s fully liquid.
- Combine the butter and sugar in a bowl. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well.
- Add the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder to the wet ingredients.
- Fold in nuts to the batter.
- Pour the brownie batter into the baking pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Let the brownies cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Scatter the pomegranate over the top of the brownies once cool.
- Cut into squares and enjoy!
